Review–Mating the Huntress by Talia Hibbert

This hot Halloween erotic romance can be devoured in one bite (pun intended).

Chastity identifies the hot stranger who keeps coming into her family’s coffee shop as a werewolf right away. But she doesn’t warn her family of huntresses, or even any of the men in her family. When he finally asks her out, she says yes. If she can kill him, she’ll prove to her family that she can be a huntress, too. The problem is that he’s not a mindless beast, like she’d been warned. He seems like a….a guy. An artist, even. Can a monster make art? Worse, can a monster inspire feelings other than hate….like lust?

Luke is a werewolf. But like most weres, he’s a solitary creature who likes his meat raw–and the forest behind his house keeps him perfectly happy via plenty of rabbits and such. But on a full moon, he’s chased by a group of huntresses…only to catch the scent of something primal. His mate. But the woman wearing the sweatshirt isn’t her. Instead she’s this shy, sweet girl who works in a coffee shop. Or so he thinks…until she tries to kill him.

Luke and Chas have chemistry that sparks right off the page. They’re easy to root for because it’s blindingly obvious that they should be together. Their banter is hot, and their fighting even more so. When they finally get together, I was squirming.

I love the idea of huntresses being obsessed with killing mindless monsters versus the very civilized but solitary werewolf who just wants to meet and commit to his mate for life. The dichotomy makes their story sparkle.

Luke is very much an alpha character. He doesn’t hesitate to take control or make a move. But he’s also committed to consent, which is really sexy. There’s an instance where the consent is blurry and he pulls away immediately. This only makes him hotter.

I wish it were longer, but I always wish a Talia Hibbert book were longer–she’s such a talented writer that I am always sorry when the story finishes. There’s such a great glimpse into the world of the huntresses and the world of werewolves. She has a unique take on what can be a really tiresome trope. Kudos, Talia!

It’s October 1, which means it’s on sale TODAY! Get it here on kindle for $0.99.

Exciting news #2 is that I’ve had my first acceptance of 2107. I’m very excited to share more about this anthology when the editor gives the ok.

beta reader kitty

Finally, we have arrived back in the US after nearly seven years in Singapore. While I’m partially excited to be back, I wish it were in a different political climate. One of the things I’ll need to do is find a balance between writing and activism.

My next big project is to work on Plunder. I had some good feedback on the first draft, and although it means a total overhaul, I have faith that I can do it. When that is back in my beta’s hands, I have the idea for the start of a paranormal erotic romance series because apparently I can’t stay in my subgenre lane. I also have the plan for another contemporary, with the ambivalence of leaving and arriving in a home country that feels foreign (which is what I’m experiencing right now) with the added complication of a budding international romance.

Guest Post: Ashe Barker and her new book

Hello lovely readers. I’m so sorry I haven’t been posting–I’ve been editing all the amazing stories and poems you’ll read in Under the Mistletoe. Today I’m thrilled to have Ashe Barker, a fellow Totally Bound author and contributor of a sizzling hot story in Under the Mistletoe, guest posting about her new release, Resurrection.

SONY DSC

Hello, and thank you so much for inviting me over to talk a little bit about my latest paranormal/time travel erotic romance, Resurrection.

I have always loved time travel romances, and in particular I’m intrigued by the stories where a character comes forward in time. As a writer it’s a dream to imagine all the wondrous and terrifying things they would encounter and to weave those into some sexy and occasionally hilarious scenes. Resurrection has a lot of that. Imagine for example a fifteenth century noblewoman let loose in a twenty first century shopping mall. Or her first encounter with a fast car. Or modern plumbing. Throw in a sexy vampire Dom and my joy is complete.

I am often asked about the inspiration which sparks an idea for a story. No spoilers here, but readers will be aware of the amazing event which took place in the current century and which stripped away five hundred years of accepted wisdom about one of our most infamous historical characters. Richard III was vilified by the Tudors, most ably abetted by one William Shakespeare. In Resurrection Richard is a relatively minor character but still manages to hold his own as a towering figure who influences much of what happens, and makes an amazing reappearance at the end of the story.

Resurrection is both contemporary and historical, paranormal and an erotic romance with the BDSM themes I love to write. I hope readers enjoy this mix of genres as much as I enjoyed writing it.

The past is only a heartbeat away

Right from the start she knew it wasn’t about love.

As the youngest daughter of a wealthy family in medieval England, Lady Jane of Acton has been betrothed to Gerard Twyfford, the son of the Earl of Roseworth, since she was a baby. A dynastic marriage such as theirs is about power and property, not love but even so Jane desperately yearns for her husband’s approval. But Gerard’s rare visits to her bed are for the sole purpose of producing an heir, and she’s even failed at that. How can Jane win Gerard over when she cannot even be the wife he needs her to be?

Would one last chance be enough? Could he make things right, even now?

Ged Twyfford doesn’t know what he’s missing in life. A powerful vampire, he’s lived for close to six hundred years and seen a lot during his time but his past still haunts him. On a whim, he purchases Roseworth castle, the keep he used to rule as lord. Mostly in ruins now, Roseworth is a shell of what it was when he was still a mortal but Ged is determined to make it his home again. Maybe this is what he’s been missing, maybe he needs a place to belong at last.

When a woman emerges from the lake beside his castle, looking and sounding a lot like the wife he lost over five centuries ago, Ged assumes she’s a witch out to dupe him. But what if she is who she claims to be? Ged finally realizes just what he had, and just how precious to him was the wife he betrayed all those hundreds of years ago.

Do they really have a second chance or is it just too late to start over?

And of course a sensuous and hot excerpt…

“So, are you ready to lay yourself across my lap, Jane?”

“Will you hurt me?”

“Of course, though not so much that you won’t be able to stand it.”

“What if I want you to stop?”

“This is a punishment spanking so it’s over when I say it is. If you start to feel overwhelmed and want me to pause for a moment though, you need only ask.”

“And, after…?”

“And after, I shall hold you until you stop crying, and I’m sure that all’s well between us. Then I shall fuck you. You should be aware, Jane, I intend to make a better job of it this time.”

He was pleased to see a delightful flush creep across her cheeks. Time to pinken her buttocks to match.

“Jane?” He patted his lap.

She stepped to the side then leaned across him, lowering herself into position.

“Further forward, if you please. Lift up your bottom for me.”

Jane obliged him, pushing herself up onto her toes to present her beautiful heart-shaped arse. Ged admired the pretty curves, leaning to his right to catch a peek at her pussy lips just visible between her thighs. He contemplated asking her to spread her legs to afford him a better view, but decided against it. He had plenty of time and would explore her sweet little cunt soon enough. For now he opted to concentrate on the spanking. It was no hardship, he couldn’t recall an occasion when he had ever anticipated administering a punishment with quite so much relish.

Jane jerked hard when he laid his palm on her upturned buttock. He caressed her skin, felt the muscles tighten beneath his hand as she clenched in anticipation. He circled her soft cheeks with his palm, first one, then the other, saying nothing. He continued to caress her until she softened, her body relaxing, ready for him.

The first slap was soft, but still she gasped. He stroked the sensation away, then dropped another spank onto her sensitive behind, harder this time. She let out another soft sigh, but didn’t shift her position. He continued to slap her soft cheeks, peppering her behind with spanks which became harder, sharper, more intense. Soon she was wriggling on his lap, rubbing hard against his erection. She could have no doubt of his arousal, and he was acutely aware of hers.

As he ramped up the punishment her pussy lips glistened, then moisture started to trickle. She dampened his jeans, though he would swear she was unaware of her physical response. Her head though, that was another matter entirely. He rifled her thoughts shamelessly, and knew the moment, even before her body went limp, draped across his thighs in absolute surrender, that he had her. She was his, to do with as he pleased.

Guest Post: Lisabet Sarai–author of The Gazillionaire and the Virgin

Today’s guest post is by the lovely Lisabet Sarai, with whom I’ve shared pages in three Coming Together anthologies–For the Holidays, Keeping Warm, and Strange Shifters. She is a delightfully inventive reader (her six foot penguin in Strange Shifters is my favorite of the characters I’ve met in the Coming Together anthologies), who is here to talk about (and run a contest for) her new release: The Gazillionaire and the Virgin.

An Interview with Rachel Zelinsky

by Lisabet Sarai

I want to thank Delilah for hosting me today and giving me a chance to talk about my recently released BDSM erotic romance The Gazillionaire and the Virgin. In thinking about my post, I realized it’s pretty boring for an author to go on and on about how great her book is (even if that’s true ;^) ). So as an alternative, I decided to interview my heroine, Rachel Zelinsky. (I interviewed my hero, Theo Moore, over at Desiree Holt’s blog last Wednesday.)

After the interview, I have included the blurb and an exclusive, super-sexy excerpt. Because I do think it’s an amazing romance… and so far reviewers agree!

Rachel250
Lisabet Sarai:  Books on the craft of writing emphasize that every character should have a “defining characteristic”—some personality trait or tendency that governs the character’s behavior and choices. So what’s yours?

Rachel Zelinsky: That’s easy. Perseverance. When I set myself a goal, I don’t give up until I’ve achieved it. If I meet obstacles when pursuing one plan, I’ll try a different strategy. But to some extent, I simply won’t accept failure.

LS: Do you think this trait is responsible for your phenomenal success?

RZ: Partly. I would never have made it through MIT without being persistent, even stubborn. And Silicon Valley isn’t an easy environment for a woman, either. However, basic intelligence and a willingness to work hard are important too. Theo doesn’t have much respect for my wealth, but I can tell you, I earned my billions. I’ve paid my dues, and I think I have the right to enjoy the fruits of my labors.

LS: Speaking of Theo—it seems like you made an exception in his case. When you sought him out, it was for business reasons, but later, you gave up on your plans to use his AI technology in your online environment.

RZ: I didn’t “give up”. I changed my mind. I realized that Theo’s happiness and comfort were more important to me than my business goals.

LS: Also, it seems that you got a bit—um—distracted by your relationship with him.

RZ: Well—okay, I admit Theo’s dominance overwhelmed me. It was so unexpected. And yes, it can be hard to think rationally when Theo Moore is making love to you!

LS: Still, it seems the connection between you is more than just sex.

RZ: Much more! Honestly, I didn’t see how empty my life was, emotionally, until I met Theo. I’ve been so busy working toward external success, I’ve really neglected my heart. I love him so much it’s almost embarrassing.

LS: No reason to be embarrassed. You’re a romance heroine, after all.

RZ: But also the CEO of a multi-billion dollar technology company. We’re not allowed to have feelings. The business is supposed to come first. But now—well, Theo comes first. He’s my lover and my Master.

LS: That sounds like quite a conflict. How are you going to resolve these two opposing forces?

RZ: Don’t your craft treatises tell you that a novel needs conflict? Anyway, if readers want to discover how I handle this, they need to buy the book!

TheGazillionaireAndTheVirgin_400

The Gazillionaire and the Virgin Genre-busting BDSM Erotic Romance 240 pages, five flames

Trust can’t be bought—it has to be earned.

When Silicon Valley entrepreneur Rachel Zelinsky meets reclusive genius Theo Moore, she finds him strangely compelling. Theo is both arrogant and socially awkward, but he has an aura of power that speaks to Rachel’s carefully-hidden submissive side. Disturbed and aroused, she tries to focus on her original objective—a deal to incorporate his Artificial Intelligence software into her company’s popular virtual world. Rachel’s not a woman who lets pleasure interfere with business, but for some reason, she can’t resist Theo’s geeky appeal.

Theo Moore can’t be bought. His past battles with poverty make him deeply suspicious of the billionaire CEO. Still, with her voluptuous curves and brilliant mind, Rachel embodies his ultimate sexual fantasy. Too bad his knowledge about sex derives from extensive research and a stash of kinky porn rather than real-world experience.

That doesn’t bother Rachel, however. In his bed—in his arms—in his bonds—she discovers the bliss of total surrender. Rachel may be Theo’s first lover, but Theo is Rachel’s first true Master—and the first man to truly touch her heart. It seems that love may harmonize their differing goals and values, until Rachel’s unwitting violation of Theo’s trust threatens to tear them apart forever.

Exclusive X-Rated Excerpt

“Oh, God—oh—Rachel…That’s….oh!”

Still sucking, I nibble on his frenulum. His hands are fists on either side of his thighs.

“Stop, stop—I can’t hold on.”

I let his cock slide out of my mouth, trailing my tongue along the shaft as it leaves. “You want me to stop sucking you?”

“No—ah, yes—I mean, I think I’m going to come again…”

Swinging my leg over his hips, I let my pubic curls brush his cockhead.

“And that’s bad?”

“Oh…no…” His face looks panicked now, the pleasure smothered by some sort of fear. “But you—you’re supposed to go first.”

I spread my thighs and drop until I paint the tip of his cock with my juices, then snatch my pelvis away as he tries to push inside. I can’t help chuckling at his enthusiasm. I want him more than ever.

“Don’t worry about me, Theo. I fully intend to come. More than once, most likely.” I scan the neat bedroom. “Where do you keep your condoms? In the bedside table drawer?”

“Ah – what? Um—I—I don’t have any condoms.”

“Huh? Don’t you believe in safe sex?”

“I – uh – well…” His face turns scarlet with embarrassment.

“Good thing I’m always prepared.” With a huff of mock exasperation, I roll off the bed and pad into the living room to find my purse. I’m too turned on to really be angry. Besides, I’m already becoming accustomed to Theo’s strangeness. “Meanwhile,” I call over my shoulder, “you get out of that tux. No point in doing any more damage.”

Under the influence of my recent fantasies, I’d slipped a three-pack of Durex extra large into my bag before leaving to pick Theo up for the fund raiser. Not that I’d expected anything to happen between us, of course, but one never knows. Now, given his apparent virility, I wonder whether I’ll run out.

I extract the condoms from my clutch, then take advantage of the break to make a quick trip to the toilet. When I return to the bedroom, I find Theo naked on the bed, his rampant cock aimed at the ceiling. One hand grips that fat rod of flesh, sliding up and down with practiced precision. He has flung the other arm across his face, as if he can’t bear to watch.

My fantasies didn’t do him justice. He has one of those massive, powerful bodies that make you want to fall to your knees in worship. He doesn’t have the bulging biceps or rippling six-pack of an exercise nut, but his big hands, broad shoulders and lean thighs broadcast strength. As he jerks at his cock, I watch the tightening in his abdomen, the shifting of muscle under the pale skin of his arm. Aside from the black fuzz surrounding his cock, he’s mostly hairless.

Saliva pools in my mouth. I want to swallow that lovely cock once again, to torment him until he can’t help but spill his seed into my mouth. Later. Right now the hungry ache between my thighs takes precedence.

“Starting without me?”

He snatches his hand away from his penis with the startled, guilty look of a kid caught in the act. “Um – no – just thinking.”

I straddle him again, leaning forward to trail my rigid nipples across his smooth chest. On my hands and knees, I smile down on him. His bobbing cock streaks my belly with pre-cum and baby oil. “About me?”

His eyes meet mine, suddenly bold. “You know I am, Rachel. Don’t tease. I can’t stand much more.”

Recommended Reads: So Sweet by Rebekah Weatherspoon (review)

It’s probably no surprise that my Twitter community is full of readers and writers, and because of this I see a lot of books reviewed/promoted/recommended. Much of these are one person and one title at a time. But every so often I see a bunch of people getting excited about the same book, and I pay attention.

Had I stumbled across this title on my own, I might have passed it by, and I would have missed out on a great novella. Thanks to my tweeps and their recommendations, I didn’t.

so sweet

Desperate times call for desperate measures…
And desperate is the only way to describe Kayla Davis’s current situation. Out of work and almost out of money to cover her bills, Kayla finally caves to her roommate’s nagging and follows her to Arrangements, an online dating site that matches pretty young women with older men of a certain tax bracket.
Convinced this “make-rent-quick” scheme will surely fail—or saddle her with an 80 year old boyfriend—Kayla is shocked when Michael Bradbury, Internet billionaire and stone-cold salt and pepper fox, offers her a solution to all her financial troubles.
It’s hard enough for Kayla to accept his generosity, but what’s a girl to do when the wealthiest man she’s ever met is a dream in and outside of the bedroom?

from the Amazon description

Kayla’s not the typical sugar baby–she’s a plus sized African American girl who is totally ambivalent/doubtful about the whole Sugar Daddy/Baby thing. Kayla is a great heroine–when Michael propositions her, she says that she won’t consider a relationship without feelings. She is irritated when he pays her rent after only one date, when she hasn’t decided on whether she’ll actually have a relationship with him.

Michael is taken by Kayla’s bluntness. She’s not impressed by his wealth, nor is she trying to capitalize on it.

A002_C005_0514C7.0001771F

I recently re-read the novella and was just as taken with it as I was the first time. The dialogue is snappy and the sex is hot as hell. One of the secondary characters, Kayla’s roommate Adler, is particularly great–her character also a has a major arc in the story. Weatherspoon  has great pacing–the evolution of the relationship feels natural, as do the changes in Kayla and Adler’s relationship, and the sex feels natural at the various scenes as opposed to shoehorned in (which I’ve seen all too often).

So Sweet is a great story, and my only complaint is that she left me wishing it were longer. I’m eager for the next novella in the series, and have purchased her FIT trilogy while I’m waiting for So Right.

You can learn more about Rebekah at her blog, see her full booklist, or follow her on Twitter (I’m a new follower, myself.)

New Release: Strange Shifters

Strange Shifters

Strange Shifters is now available in print and digital versions!

My story “A Reindeer by Any Other Name” is included in this anthology. If you liked “New on the Naughty List” from Coming Together: For the Holidays last year, you’ll want to read “Reindeer.” It’s the story of what Blitzen was up to while Lucy the Elf was seeing whether Matthew belonged on the Naughty or Nice list.

“Going home for Christmas?” I asked.

Nik shrugged. “My parents are Hindu, so we didn’t do the whole ‘Christmas’ thing.”

He just gave the most sacred word at the Pole air quotes. Is this love?

“I’m waiting for the twenty-sixth, y’know? Back to normal,” Nik continued. “You?”

“Yeah, I’m going to spend the holiday with my family. I’m over it, but they’re really into Christmas. I’m the weird one,” I replied. Really into Christmas was an understatement. The lives of Santa’s team revolved around Christmas. It dictated everything from whether we could fly to the strength of our magic. Every day on the calendar was all about how many days were left until Christmas.

“Good thing I’ve always found weird synonymous with sexy,” Nik said.

Intending to share a friendly kiss, my lips brushed his. He responded by taking possession of my mouth, and pulled me tight against him. I met his hunger with my own, until we reluctantly broke apart. Much more of that and we’d be naked in the middle of Newbury Street in minutes.

I’m sharing pages with so many awesome writers. I can’t wait to read the rest of the anthology.

Review: Heat Wave: Burlington by Lynn Townsend

Heat Wave Burlington

Heat Wave: Burlington is a novella by Lynn Townsend, one of eighteen Heat Wave novella being released by JMS Books over the course of July and August.

Brandon Russo is having another hot, boring day at work. Scott Seay is a photographer on the trail of Champy, the lake monster said to live in Lake Champlain. Their paths intersect when Scott is knocked off his bike and Brandon is the good Samaritan who helps Scott get medical attention. An attraction sparks instantly.

I really enjoyed this fast, sweet read.

Scott (a photographer who has an open mind about things like Champy) and Brandon (working at his aunt’s storage facility) are both very likeable characters. They interact and banter well, and their attraction is believable. Alison (Brandon’s older sister and a nurse) is a great secondary character.

The setting (the storage facility, for the most part) is not one I’ve run into before in erotica, but it works surprisingly well. This is a running theme for me when it comes to Lynn’s stories–another one of my favorites of hers, Holidays Hours (from Coming Together: For the Holidays) takes place in a convenience store. She has the ability to take a unconventional setting and make it the backdrop for a sweet love story.

My only real complaint is that it’s such a short read. I’m greedy, and I like Lynn’s stories, so I always want more.
